Insurance Claims: Why Quality Control in “Design AND Construction” of Building Enclosures Matters

Tuesday, May 8, 09:30 – 10:30

Construction Defect claims have become one of the greatest costs in the construction insurance industry. Of all types of claims, those that involve water result in the most damage and have the greatest financial impact. When design and/or installation of a building enclosure fail, it is the insurance company that pays the claim. Insurance companies are becoming proactive in working with their customers to recognize the risks associated with the design and installation of exterior envelope systems through training and improving their Quality Management programs.

In this presentation, we will discuss the cost and impact of a building envelope claim and practical Quality Management processes so that Owners, Designers and Constructors can work together in creating air and water tight building enclosures.
